This was reported by Report, with information from the head of the Azerbaijani delegation in the PA OSCE, Azay Guliyev.
According to him, although it was planned two years earlier that the 2023 OSCE PA autumn session would take place in Uzbekistan, this country refused to host the event.
‘On June 13, 2023, the President of the National Assembly of Armenia, Alen Simonyan, sent a letter to the President of the OSCE PA, expressing readiness to host the autumn session. Due to the lack of other candidates, the application was accepted.
The disrespect to the Azerbaijani flag, displayed in the presence of the Prime Minister of this country, Nikol Pashinyan, during an international sports event in Uzbekistan on April 14 this year, and the organization of a rally by members of the Armenian parliament, journalists, bloggers calling for the immediate release of the person who committed this criminal act, have caused justified dissatisfaction among the Azerbaijani public.
Furthermore, we are concerned about the prevailing feelings of hostility and hatred towards our country in Armenia, vividly manifested by anti-Azerbaijani propaganda and Azerbaijanophobia.
All these are compelling reasons why the Azerbaijani delegation will not participate in the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly (PA OSCE) autumn session in Yerevan on November 18-20 this year. It should also be noted that any decisions or recommendations made there regarding our country without our participation will be considered unjustified,’ emphasized Azay Guliyev.
