Speaking in an interview with a Finnish news agency, he described this as positive news in the process of normalizing relations with Azerbaijan.
“There is a border, and we know where it is. It is defined by the Alma-Ata Declaration of 1991, signed by the former Soviet republics, where administrative boundaries became state borders. Of course, the commissions of the two countries must work together on further delimitation and clear demarcation.”
Minister Mirzoyan, highlighting border demarcation as a guarantee for future stability, stated: “As much as guarantees are possible these days, having a clearly defined border is a very strong mechanism.”
In the context of communication reopening, Minister Mirzoyan noted that Armenia and Azerbaijan could reach solutions acceptable to both sides.
“We can facilitate the transit of Armenian goods through Azerbaijan and, conversely, Azerbaijani goods through Armenia. At the initial stage, we can resume rail transit and gradually expand it,” he said.
