Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, speaking in Washington at a meeting with representatives of the local Armenian community, stated that Armenia’s defeat in the 2020 Karabakh war “provided an opportunity to have an independent and sovereign country.”
“I can say that by suffering defeat, we have gained the opportunity to have an independent and sovereign state,” Pashinyan was quoted as saying by the Armenian government’s press service.
He also lamented that, “due to certain circumstances,” a great deal of negativity toward Armenia has developed in the South Caucasus.
