Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has stated that the rising potential and global influence of the Turkic states demand “more ambitious goals, intensified joint efforts, deeper cooperation across all fields, and more flexible mechanisms.” His remarks were delivered in a special address to participants of the first Solidarity Forum of NGOs from the member countries of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), held on November 24 in Baku.
Aliyev highlighted the importance of the inaugural NGO forum, calling it a significant step toward strengthening unity within the Turkic world. He announced that Azerbaijan is prepared to launch joint grant competitions with OTS member states—both bilaterally and multilaterally—in areas such as history, culture, ecology, climate policy, and other fields, in order to support projects that enhance communication and collaboration.
The President also noted that the 2026 centenary of the First Turkological Congress offers a timely opportunity to advance unfinished work on cultural integration among Turkic peoples, particularly through active participation of civil society organizations.
Aliyev emphasized that coordinated action by NGOs within the UN and other international institutions, as well as their consolidation on a single platform, could significantly contribute to common strategic objectives. He expressed confidence that partnerships formed during the Baku forum will strengthen solidarity, unity, and relations across the Turkic world.
According to the Azerbaijani leader, the Turkic world is currently experiencing a “new phase of renewed growth and dynamism.” He underscored that the Garabagh Victory, achieved five years ago, remains a shared source of pride for all Turkic nations.
The President added that the reconstruction of the Garabagh and East Zangezur economic regions, along with the future opening of the Zangezur Corridor, will further enhance development and deepen cooperation among Turkic countries.
