The event will include sessions on the following topics: “Assessing the Washington Summit: Implications for US–Azerbaijan Relations,” “The Azerbaijan–Armenia Peace Process After the Washington Summit,” and “Energy Security and Connectivity.”
“The meeting in Washington on August 8 creates opportunities for advancing peace in the South Caucasus. There are two major conflict zones around us: one is the Russia–Ukraine conflict, and the other is the Middle East, where various clashes are also taking place. Naturally, all of this affects the South Caucasus. The initialing of the peace treaty on August 8 in Washington, under such challenging external conditions, opens a path toward peace for the region. We hope that amendments will be made to Armenia’s Constitution, and under appropriate conditions, a peace treaty will be signed between Azerbaijan and Armenia. The August 8 meeting also opens new possibilities for cooperation between Azerbaijan and the United States. For the past 30 years, our cooperation was mostly focused on the energy sector. However, today there are prospects for partnership in other areas as well,” stated Farid Shafiyev, Chairman of the Center of Analysis of International Relations.
