The Israeli outlet The Jerusalem Post published an article titled “Azerbaijan’s role in Gaza stabilization could strengthen Israel, experts say,” devoted to Azerbaijan’s potential participation in a multinational stabilization mission in the Gaza Strip.
According to the publication, citing foreign sources, Azerbaijan is being considered among the countries that could join international efforts to restore order and rebuild Gaza’s infrastructure after the end of hostilities.
Experts note that the involvement of Azerbaijan — a Muslim but secular country with advanced military and economic capabilities — could strengthen Israel’s position and give the mission greater legitimacy in the eyes of the Muslim world.
The article includes expert comments emphasizing that the long-standing partnership between Baku and Jerusalem, as well as Azerbaijan’s experience in postwar reconstruction in Karabakh, could play an important role in regional stabilization. It also highlights that both Baku and Jerusalem face shared challenges related to Iranian influence, making their cooperation strategically significant.
The Jerusalem Post further recalls that Azerbaijan remains one of Israel’s main oil suppliers, and that in 2025, the state oil company SOCAR acquired a 10 percent stake in Israel’s Tamar gas field, thereby strengthening the energy and diplomatic ties between the two nations.
According to the publication’s assessment, Azerbaijan’s possible participation in the stabilization mission could become an example of pragmatic regional cooperation based on shared interests rather than ideology.
