“This resolution, adopted at a time when peace negotiations are taking place in Germany, and the absurd claims made, raise serious questions: Is Europe really interested in establishing peace in the South Caucasus? For European parliamentarians calling for decisive steps, imposing sanctions against Azerbaijan, are Azerbaijan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity less important than Armenia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity?” the MM document states.
It is emphasized that the opinions mentioned in the report regarding the necessity of arming Armenia clearly reflect the intention to escalate the situation in the region and hinder the peace process.
“It appears that the European Parliament is determined to continue striving for ‘new successes’ in its hypocritical approaches to events in the South Caucasus. Several points reflected in the European Parliament’s annual report give reason to assert exactly this. If one considers the points that coincide with the official statements of Armenia, it becomes clear that this document was prepared under the influence and dictation of the Armenian lobby.
The European Parliament must understand that this document, like previously adopted resolutions, has no significance for Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and sovereignty cannot be questioned. No one can exert pressure on Azerbaijan.
The Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan resolutely condemns the European Parliament’s intention to strike at the efforts aimed at ensuring peace and stability in the region, recommends not engaging in such petty provocations, but in serious and urgent issues concerning Europe,” the statement said.
