According to the Azerbaijani news agency “Azertag,” Hasler emphasized the ongoing efforts to strengthen unity to protect and promote shared values, particularly noting the significance of the Council of Europe’s 75th anniversary as a unique platform for multilateral cooperation among the governments and parliaments of 46 member states to advance human rights, democracy, and the rule of law in Europe.
Hasler noted that since joining the organization in 2001, Azerbaijan has utilized the support of the Council of Europe during its democratic transition and contributed to the propagation of its values and the increase of its influence. This cooperation is seen as ongoing and mutually beneficial.
Highlighting Azerbaijan’s contributions to the structure and expressing hope for the quick return of its delegation to a deserving place within the organization, Hasler stated, “I believe we need each other. I hope that the Azerbaijani delegation will soon return to its rightful place in the Parliamentary Assembly to continue cooperation and dialogue in the spirit of the values that unite us. I am ready to encourage the most acceptable solutions for all in order to allow the continuation of the Council of Europe’s magnificent work over the past 75 years, and I would like to thank the Parliamentary Assembly, the Committee of Ministers, and the Secretary-General once again for their excellent cooperation during the tripartite meeting.”
