The Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that this was stated in the final communiqué adopted at the end of the 15th Islamic Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
The communiqué expressed unwavering support for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, as well as the process of normalizing relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia based on mutual recognition of each other’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. There was also a call for Armenia to fulfill its commitments in this direction.
Additionally, the communiqué noted that the OIC has changed the name from the “Contact Group on the Aggression of the Republic of Armenia against the Republic of Azerbaijan” to the “Contact Group on the Elimination of the Consequences of the Aggression of the Republic of Armenia against the Republic of Azerbaijan,” and once again condemned Armenia for the destruction of Islamic heritage sites.
The fate of Azerbaijanis displaced from the territories of present-day Armenia during the past conflict raised concerns, and support was expressed for their dignified return.
