Editorial note: Although our site does not post messages from readers, we would like to make an exception this time (and perhaps start a tradition) and publish this cry from our reader’s heart.
Dear editors of aze.media,
As a regular reader of your portal, I am outraged by the brazenness and the activity of domestic collaborationists on social media. I would appreciate it if you posted my message to such Azerbaijanis.
The West, Nord and Azerbaijan — the stars that will never align
You can ignore being insulted and rejected by someone below you. But it is hard to accept being belittled by someone above you (in terms of development and standards). For the unprepared, for the weak of mind and will, it is unbearable. To be more specific, the rich white West rejecting you and a priori considering you the wrong, guilty side in any issue du jour, while seeing and cherishing Armenians as saintly, blessed sacrificial lambs, triggers a defense mechanism in the spineless and the trampled.
Now, you know, you are sure deep inside that the reason is your religion and your ethnicity (geography is destiny), but you do not want to admit that on the outside. It is far more convenient for you, for your personal comfort, to believe that the real reasons are those they voice: cliched narratives like “democracy”, “human rights”, “caviar diplomacy”, “dictatorship” are a balm to your heart. A hypocritical game, a back-and-forth between you and THEM begins.
You pretend to believe that your religion and ethnicity do not matter to THEM, while THEY are grateful that even if you know or suspect the real reason, you do not say it out loud and accept THEIR rules of the game, and they show this gratitude by letting you into their teams, clubs, corporate and institutional cooperation, by publishing your books, by inviting you to various events.
You certainly do not have the luxury of acknowledging that you are no different (in their eyes) from those who know and voice the real truth and intent, that you are still the same Untermensch, that no matter what you do, no matter how deep your tongue is in their asses, you will never be as saintly as Armenians to them and you will never be loved by them. You would rather die than accept this reality. To survive, you must believe that you are one of them, a member of their club. Otherwise, life has no meaning. It really is an existential issue. You are not one of the “filthy herd”, you are not one of the “regime trolls”, you are not one of those who “feud with the innocent, pure, chaste Armenians”, you could not be farther from these people, you are different, you are good. You have accepted the rules of the game and you are one of THEM.
But you are not, you miserable bastard. And you never will be. There is a very, very, very slim possibility that if you shout from the rooftops that you have changed your religion and chosen Christianity, that you have discovered through DNA analysis that you are Persian or Armenian, that you are deeply ashamed to be from Azerbaijan and Azerbaijani, and, if possible, that you are also homosexual (to increase your odds), then they might look at you differently. But that is extremely unlikely. That is just wishful thinking.
Why do they believe Armenians or how do Armenians convince them?
Armenians DO NOT CONVINCE the social and political circles of the West and the North (people of the West do not need this CONVINCING) of their manufactured “history” of our region, of the alleged tragedies Armenians have been suffering. This has nothing to do with the Armenian diaspora and media allegedly being more effective than ours, making the West and the North believing them blindly and putting their words, their thoughts and their “suffering” in the headlines. NO, A THOUSAND TIMES NO!
Both the West and the North know the truth better than we do. They know Armenians, they know where they came from and where they are going, they know what sect Armenians serve and they know Armenians’ real mission, because these historical narratives are largely being written by Western and Northern spin masters. They birthed the idea of false history long before Armenians. This is not about the Armenian POWER OF PERSUASION turning them against us.
The truth is that both the West and the North DO NOT ACCEPT US AS A PEOPLE, THEY DO NOT LOVE US, THEY DO NOT WANT US, THEY ARE TROUBLED BY OUR EXISTENCE. This did not come from Armenians turning them against us, this is because of the centuries-long, never-ending, persistent belief of the West and the North in our culpability (they think they are still settling scores with us for the Crusades, for Constantinople)! In this GREAT PERSISTENCE, the Armenian factor, the Armenian presence is just a petty excuse.
