The press service of President Ilham Aliyev reports that the Azerbaijani leader held a phone conversation with his Turkish counterpart, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
During the discussion, the two presidents emphasized the continuous development of the fraternal and friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey, which are grounded in their strategic alliance.
President Aliyev expressed his satisfaction with the active participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and First Lady Emine Erdoğan in the COP29 Leaders’ Summit held in Azerbaijan. He noted that the high-level Turkish delegation made a significant contribution to the conference’s success.
In response, President Erdoğan congratulated President Aliyev on the successful organization of COP29 and the positive outcomes achieved during the negotiation processes.
The two leaders also addressed issues related to the South Caucasus and the Middle East, specifically discussing the situation in Syria following the fall of the Assad regime.
Both presidents extended their congratulations to the Syrian people on this occasion and reaffirmed their support for Syria’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.
President Aliyev expressed hope that, with Turkey’s active support, a period of stability would now begin in Syria. He also stated that Azerbaijan, in cooperation with its brotherly nation Turkey, stands ready to assist in addressing the humanitarian challenges faced by the Syrian people.
President Erdoğan, in turn, welcomed Azerbaijan’s commitment, affirming that Azerbaijan and Turkey, as in all areas of cooperation, will work together to provide humanitarian aid and support to the Syrian people.
The conversation concluded with an exchange of views on the future development of the fraternal relations and strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Turkey.
