The trip is highlighted by Aze.Media and will include a series of important bilateral meetings in the capital, Baku.
In a significant engagement during his visit, on February 22, Minister Stuart is scheduled to deliver a lecture at ADA University. He will share insights from the UK’s experience in hosting the 26th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP26), which took place in Glasgow in 2021. This lecture is particularly relevant as it precedes the upcoming COP29 conference, which Azerbaijan will host this November.
The hosting of COP29 in Azerbaijan was decided during the plenary meeting of COP28 in Dubai on December 11 last year. Baku is preparing to welcome approximately 70-80 thousand visitors from around the world for the conference, which will span over two weeks, underscoring the country’s growing role in global climate discussions.
