Starting from July 2, journalists can submit their applications for accreditation through the UNFCCC Secretariat.
COP29 presents a valuable opportunity for the media to cover international discussions, significant decisions, and collaborative efforts aimed at shaping a sustainable future for our planet. Accredited journalists will gain direct access to comprehensive content and infrastructure tailored for media coverage. This includes in-person or online access to high-level talks, the official conference program, and briefings on scientific and technological innovations related to climate change. Those with Green and Blue Zone access will attend press conferences, briefings, and other media events, utilizing specially equipped media centers and zones at the conference venue.
The COP29 Azerbaijan Operating Company will soon announce the registration details for Green Zone accreditation.
The accreditation process follows UNFCCC’s requirements and procedures, conducted via the registration portal on the UNFCCC Secretariat’s website. Media professionals from print and online media, television, radio, photojournalism, and other mass media are eligible to apply. The UNFCCC will evaluate applications submitted through the electronic platform, and successful applicants will receive confirmation, enabling them to complete their registration seamlessly.
A high turnout of media professionals is anticipated at COP29, as with previous climate conferences. Early application submission is encouraged to ensure all technical and logistical preparations are in place for efficient media coverage.
