What are you talking about, Mr. Borrell?

The EU again sees a "humanitarian crisis" in the situation around the Lachin road. Now Josep Borrell claims that the humanitarian aid problem in Karabakh is really bad.

“We took note of the expressed readiness of the Azerbaijani authorities to also supply goods via the city of Aghdam. This should not be seen as an alternative to the reopening of the Lachin corridor,” the EU statement says.

As was the case with Toivo Klaar, the EU makes one-sided statements that do not reflect the real state of affairs. In fact, the separatists have brought themselves to a dead end with their own actions and are now reaping the fruits of what they have sown. However, this position of the EU does not make it a neutral party to the settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict.

Yes, Brussels has done a great job as a mediator, and it was through EU mediation that Armenia recognized Karabakh and the enclaves as Azerbaijani territory. That is true, but we should not forget that over the past few years Azerbaijan has been tolerant and humane on many issues that have been abused by the Armenian side. For example, for about two years Armenians have been using the Lachin road to supply arms and conduct troop rotation in Karabakh. Is the EU not aware of this? Of course it is, but they are saying nothing about it.

Azerbaijan demanded and continues to demand the withdrawal of Armenian armed forces from Karabakh, as well as the disarmament of all illegal armed groups. Yet the EU does not call on Yerevan to withdraw and on Karabakh Armenians to disarm, which suggests that they plan to put on a show of diplomacy for a long time to come. But as the President’s aide Hikmet Hajiyev told the ambassadors posted in Azerbaijan, game over!

“Disarmament of all illegal forces must be ensured. International community should send a clear signal about usage of Aghdam-Khankandi road and reintegration of Armenian inhabitants of Karabakh to Azerbaijan. There is no other way! Game is Over!” he tweeted yesterday.

What statements or resolutions has the EU made, what actions has it taken as an “impartial” party with regard to Azerbaijani refugees who have experienced the tragedy of war and have been deprived of the opportunity to live in their native land for 30 years? Did they express their concerns then? Why is the EU is supporting the armed groups in Karabakh, in the territory of Azerbaijan, that demand humanitarian aid? Is this not political bias?

Azerbaijan might as well say that Nakhchivan has been under blockade for 30 years, while Armenia refuses to open the road for the delivery of essential goods to the NAR, and Iran, in turn, provides transit services at five times the regular rates. Why has the EU still not made a statement about the situation around Nakhchivan?

The EU and its ally, the US, created a real humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan when they abandoned the country to its fate after 20 years of occupation and froze the funds of the Afghan people, creating a humanitarian collapse. To this day, 40 million people cannot access their money, buy medicine and other necessary products. And here they are suddenly worried about 25,000 Armenians who reject Azerbaijan’s offer and tell tales of “blockade”.
