According to the latest information, attempts are being made to take advantage of the Azerbaijani factor in this war.
Knowing that tens of millions of Azerbaijanis living in South Azerbaijan do not support Tehran’s hostility toward Baku, the theocratic regime staged “administrative protest rallies” in Tabriz last Saturday to show the “true nature of the South Azerbaijanis’ rejection” of official Baku’s policy.
News reports and videos circulating in the Iranian media show that the anti-Azerbaijan rally in the streets of Tabriz was not well attended. Only a few hundred people joined the march to protest against the “insults and slander in the Baku media targeting Iran”. The title “Xalq Qəzeti” (People’s Newspaper) was featured on their posters.
Commenting on these developments, Iranian propaganda claimed that Azerbaijanis “think of themselves as Iranians.” It appears that after failing in its plans to “export the Islamic Revolution” to Azerbaijan, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps is now concerned that tens of millions of Azerbaijanis in South Azerbaijan may start a new national liberation movement against the backdrop of Tehran’s hostile policy toward Baku.
