Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said that Moscow is looking forward with optimism to the upcoming meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
According to him, the two leaders will be able to discuss all current issues and existing challenges in bilateral relations.
“Right now, we’re talking about President Putin’s state visit to Tajikistan. We have a very broad agenda. Of course, the topic of Russian-Azerbaijani relations is a separate one. It has been agreed that the two presidents will meet today. We’ll see what comes out of this meeting. We are optimistic in this case. We expect that the presidents will discuss the current state of our bilateral relations and go over the problematic aspects that exist,” the Kremlin representative clarified.
Peskov noted that the earlier telephone conversation between Putin and Aliyev was “good, positive, and constructive,” and that the agreement on the upcoming meeting was reached, among other things, during that call.
