Speaking at a plenary session of the parliament, the Chairman of the Milli Majlis Committee on International Relations and Interparliamentary Ties, Samad Seyidov, announced that the issue of reconsidering Azerbaijan’s relations with the U.S. is under discussion.
Seyidov stated that the committee has sent a request to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, proposing to analyze the current situation and take appropriate measures. In his view, this reconsideration could also affect the military sphere.
“We need to reassess the activities of USAID, which is provoking instability in the region. Under the guise of friendship, they pursue other goals. I am confident that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will make the necessary decisions after reviewing our request,” Seyidov emphasized.
He also noted that despite U.S. support for hosting the COP29 summit in Azerbaijan in November, the State Department is attempting to undermine the event. “This approach raises doubts about the U.S.’ sincerity and undermines trust in them within the region,” Seyidov added.
