During the meeting, Colonel General Valiyev highlighted the reforms in the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, the application of combat experience in troop training, and the significance of continued cooperation with NATO under various programs.
Lieutenant General Max Nielsen expressed gratitude for the warm hospitality, acknowledged Azerbaijan’s contributions to NATO partnerships, including participation in peacekeeping missions, and emphasized the readiness to further develop collaboration.
As part of the visit, the delegation of the “Senior Course” from the NATO Defense College visited key sites, including ADA University and the Baku International Sea Trade Port. During an event at ADA University, Vice-Rector Fariz Ismailzade and Presidential Aide Hikmet Hajiyev addressed the guests, discussing Azerbaijan’s foreign policy, regional security, and emerging challenges.
Colonel Ramil Shukurov, a representative of the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan, presented detailed insights on “Azerbaijan-NATO Cooperation” and “Defense Strategy,” highlighting the importance of joint efforts to enhance defense capabilities. The discussions were attended by representatives of Slovakia and Latvia’s diplomatic missions, along with ADA University officials.
The prospects for expanding the partnership between Azerbaijan and NATO in the fields of defense and security became the central themes of the visit, which fostered mutual understanding and set the course for further collaboration.
