An official visit of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces delegation, led by First Deputy Minister of Defence and Chief of the General Staff, Colonel General Kerim Veliyev, has begun in Serbia. The trip is being carried out at the invitation of the Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, General Milan Mojsilović.
The program started with a visit to the monument of National Leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev in Belgrade’s Tašmajdan Park. Members of the delegation laid a wreath and paid tribute to the founder of modern Azerbaijani statehood.
Later, Colonel General Veliyev met with his Serbian counterpart. The sides discussed the current state and prospects of military-technical cooperation, the exchange of experience in the field of military education and personnel training, as well as opportunities to expand joint initiatives in the area of security. Special attention was given to participation in exercises and cooperation at the staff level.
As part of the visit, the Azerbaijani delegation also took part in the military parade held in Belgrade.
