Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan and Israel, Jeyhun Bayramov and Gideon Sa’ar, held a joint press conference in Baku, reaffirming the strategic nature of bilateral relations, their shared commitment to peace, and plans to expand economic cooperation.
Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister stated that Baku supports a peaceful resolution of the Israel–Palestine conflict and conveyed to the Israeli side Azerbaijan’s call for a sustainable ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. He emphasized that Azerbaijan consistently advocates political and diplomatic solutions to regional conflicts.
Bayramov also briefed his counterpart on the ongoing normalization process between Baku and Yerevan, including the outcomes of the historic meeting in Washington on August 8, 2025. Particular attention was given to post-conflict reconstruction in the liberated territories, the return of displaced persons, and the continuing threat posed by landmines.
The Azerbaijani minister underlined that Azerbaijan–Israel relations are strategic and continue to develop positively year after year. He noted that regular political consultations, strategic dialogue, and inter-parliamentary cooperation form a solid institutional foundation for the partnership. The ministers also discussed the current state of bilateral economic ties, ongoing projects, and new opportunities for cooperation.
Gideon Sa’ar stressed that Israel and Azerbaijan are countries committed to peace and stability. He recalled that the opening of the Israeli Embassy in Baku three years ago marked an important milestone in strengthening the strategic partnership.
Sa’ar highly praised Azerbaijan’s role in promoting regional peace, particularly in the context of the normalization of relations with Armenia facilitated by US President Donald Trump. He said these achievements were made possible by the balanced domestic and foreign policies of President Ilham Aliyev. The Israeli minister also noted the visible development and prosperity of Azerbaijan and highlighted the stability and security enjoyed by the Jewish community in the country.
Special emphasis was placed on expanding trade and economic cooperation. The Israeli delegation arrived in Baku with a large high-level delegation, including more than 40 representatives from Israel’s Ministry of Economy. Sa’ar noted the growing tourist flow between the two countries and expressed expectations for further growth in 2026.
Concluding the meeting, Sa’ar invited Bayramov to pay an official visit to Israel, expressing confidence that bilateral strategic cooperation would be elevated to a new level.
