The tanker is named after a living legend of the Azerbaijan oil and gas industry and first vice-president of SOCAR, Academician Khoshbakht Yusifzadeh.
As a Volqa-Don MAX-class tanker, the vessel is designed to pass through the Volga-Don Canal with maximum carrying capacity.
Designed by specialist from ASCO and the Odessa Marine Engineering Bureau, Academician Khoshbakht Yusifzade is 141 m, 16.9 m wide with a height of 6 m, has a crew of 15 and a speed of 10 knots per hour.
The tanker is designed to transport crude oil and oil products, and has six cargo tanks with a total capacity of 9,212 m3. At sea, it has 7,875 dwt and 5,447 dwt in the river.
Academician Khoshbakht Yusifzade is equipped with two Wärtsilä engines, each with a capacity of 1,200 kW.
