The meeting once again underscored the strength of Azerbaijani-Turkish ties, based on strategic partnership and fraternal bonds, which, according to the ministers, contribute to the strengthening of peace and stability in the South Caucasus.
Bayramov expressed confidence that the unified position of Azerbaijan and Turkey in politics and diplomacy would contribute to the well-being of the region. He noted that these relations would remain stable in the international arena as well, inviting his Turkish colleague to visit Azerbaijan to continue the dialogue.
Nevertheless, the minister noted that one of the main obstacles to long-term peace remains Armenia’s territorial claims against Azerbaijan, enshrined in the constitution of that country. Bayramov emphasized that these claims are also directed at Turkey, which complicates the process of normalizing relations. Additionally, Bayramov expressed concern over the arming of Armenia by third countries, which he said poses an additional threat to regional security.
Hakan Fidan, for his part, confirmed Turkey’s commitment to deepening cooperation with Azerbaijan and strengthening the friendly and fraternal ties between the countries. He stressed the importance of continuing joint efforts to ensure long-term peace in the South Caucasus and expressed satisfaction with the level of bilateral ties, including economic relations and joint projects.
Both ministers expressed their readiness to further strengthen cooperation within the framework of the Organization of Turkic States and agreed to continue cooperation to achieve sustainable peace and stability in the region. At the end of the meeting, Fidan expressed his intention to visit Azerbaijan again at the earliest opportunity, emphasizing the importance of maintaining close contacts between the two countries.
