This was stated by the First Deputy Prime Minister of Georgia, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Levan Davitashvili.
Davitashvili noted that this project involves cooperation not only with Georgia but also with several other countries. According to him, direct relations with BP have also been established on this issue.
The minister emphasized that Azerbaijan’s position is crucial for the operation of the pipeline, and Georgia is engaged in an intensive dialogue with Baku on this matter.
Davitashvili added that the transportation of Kazakh oil via the pipeline could begin as early as this year.
“Kazakh oil is a different type, and it should not be confused with Azerbaijani oil. I believe that now we have confidence in the main issues. In the future, we think we will be able to transport more than a million tons of oil. I hope that oil transportation will begin this year,” he noted.
