The purpose of the visit is to explore potential areas of cooperation between Azerbaijan and French Polynesia in inter-parliamentary, economic, humanitarian, scientific, educational, sports, health, and other sectors. Meetings are planned in Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis (Parliament) and other state and private institutions.
During the visit, the Milli Majlis will host a conference titled “French Polynesia’s Right to Decolonization: Challenges and Perspectives.”
The delegation’s visit was organized by the Baku Initiative Group (BIG), which focuses on combating colonialism and its modern manifestations. This visit follows an agreement on cooperation signed between BIG and the Tavini Huiraʻatira party at the international conference “The Path to Decolonization: Consequences of Assimilation and Its Implications for the Realization of Human Rights,” held at the UN Vienna Office on April 30.
The Tavini Huiraʻatira party has long been advocating for the independence of French Polynesia from France.
