As reported by Minval, the Yerevan-based publication Zham shares the opinion of expert Vahe Hovhannisyan, who writes that Pashinyan’s government, whether consciously or not, is steering the region toward a major war, “which will unfold on our territory with bombings of our cities and villages.”
“We are being warned from four directions: in Russian, Persian, Turkish, and English, that we are doing something dangerous. Yet we take no rational action, set no goals, have no ideas for negotiations. We reject all proposals as if they are childishly simplistic and are creating serious problems. Isn’t it clear how this will end?” the article states.
In another article, Zham.am writes that Azerbaijanis are mocking Pashinyan’s “Crossroads of Peace” project, considering it unfeasible and unaccepted by Azerbaijan, Turkey, or Russia.
“Azerbaijan’s arguments sound very logical. They say something simple: either Azerbaijanis will move through Syunik in an ‘eased’ manner, or a third country must ensure this movement. Moreover, they note that the same issue applies to the movement of Armenians to Iran via Nakhchivan. Azerbaijan’s arguments are so obvious that it’s almost silly to make them a subject of discussion,” the article notes.
The author claims that the option proposed by Pashinyan is, in fact, a deception that may eventually irritate everyone, leading the regional countries to collectively decide to punish Armenia for such an approach: “Today, perhaps only Iran prevents Armenia from being punished, based on its national interests, as the famous Russian saying goes: ‘It’s not them, but we who will get 15 days in jail.’”
“Isn’t it obvious that in such a case, the Armenian people are dooming themselves to self-destruction, as the international community will not tolerate Pashinyan’s political adventures for long?” the publication concludes.
