This statement was made by the Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, Hikmet Hajiyev.
“We are facing a new reality. The development of artificial intelligence and its use in disseminating information on social networks can, and already does, lead to unregulated consequences,” Report quoted him as saying.
Hajiyev added that if stakeholders have not achieved positive results in applying regulatory mechanisms in social networks, they might be able to implement some mechanism regarding AI through joint international efforts.
“It might be time to consider developing legislative, regulatory, or conventional frameworks regarding artificial intelligence,” said the presidential assistant.
According to Hajiyev, there are private initiatives in this matter, but there are no serious discussions at the international level.
