Ilham Aliyev made this remark during a joint press statement with the President of Georgia, Mikheil Kavelashvili, in Baku.
“For centuries, our peoples have lived in peace, good neighborliness, and brotherhood — and these traditions continue today. Intergovernmental relations remain at a high level,” the Azerbaijani President emphasized.
According to President Aliyev, Azerbaijan and Georgia cooperate successfully in the fields of energy and transport communications. “Today, when we talk about Europe’s energy security, it is impossible to imagine it without the involvement of Azerbaijan and Georgia,” he noted.
He reminded that Azerbaijan currently exports natural gas to 12 countries, including Georgia, with a significant portion of these exports transiting through Georgian territory. The joint projects in railway infrastructure and ports have created a strong synergy and turned both countries into key components of the Middle Corridor.
President Aliyev emphasized that the active development of political dialogue, regular high-level contacts, and mutual support on the international stage are essential elements of the partnership.
“The joint oil and gas and transport-communication projects implemented by Azerbaijan and Georgia are of strategic importance and have the potential to influence the development of the entire region,” the President concluded.
