“This is an Udi Albanian church. Look what the Armenians have done to it. Then they will start claiming it as an Armenian church. If it were Armenian, would they have brought it to this state? It will be preserved as a historical site. All religious sites in Azerbaijan are protected by the state. Sites of all religions will continue to be protected. We will restore this ancient Albanian church. All the Armenians did to this region for 30 years was devastate it.”

Head of the Executive Authority of Tartar District Mustagim Mammadov added, “They plastered over it to hide the fact that this is an Udi Albanian church. In other words, they committed an act of fabrication.”

President Ilham Aliyev said, “This is nothing but fabrication. Let the whole world see what the Armenians have done to an Albanian church.”

Visiting the Russian Orthodox church in the same village, the head of state said bitterly, “This is a Russian Orthodox church in the village of Talish. It has also been destroyed by Armenians. Loot at its condition: they have picked it apart wall by wall, stone by stone. This is what it looks like now. We will restore and repair this church as well. Unlike Armenians, we respect all religious sites.”

During the occupation, these buildings housed military units.
