Under the Karabakh Twin Schools project, children from families of former IDPs and martyrs will spend one week at Jirtdan Republican Children’s Rest and Health Center in the township of Shuvalan of Khazar District of Baku. The schoolchildren will participate in cultural-educational panels, trips to picturesque places of Azerbaijan, and museum tours.
10 schoolchildren and 2 instructors from Switzerland and 14 schoolchildren and 2 instructors from Azerbaijani schools are taking part in the project. Along with constant communication and networking, they will study the Azerbaijani language. At the next stage of the project, a trip of Azerbaijani students to Switzerland will be organized.
One of the partners of the project is the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Azerbaijan.
In his speech at the 5th Congress of World Azerbaijanis, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev stressed that the opening of Sunday schools and continuous promotion of the native language, which unites Azerbaijanis of the world, is a priority line in the diaspora policy.
The opening of Karabakh Sunday schools abroad began on the initiative and instruction of First Vice President of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva. The Sunday schools are active in the cities of Nantes (France), Bern (Switzerland), Warsaw (Poland) and Stockholm (Sweden). Their aim is not only to teach Azerbaijani children their native language, literature, history and culture, but also to communicate the realities of our country.
