“The weapons used were Russian, as I already mentioned, for the seizure of seven undisputed Azerbaijani districts and for the construction of fortification and combat lines, which indicated that the intention was to hold these territories for a very long time. Some analysts even noted that the nature of these fortifications suggested there was never any plan to return them to Azerbaijan,” Lavrov emphasized.
He also noted that “Russian weapons are used in many countries around the world, and this alone does not imply any political motives on Moscow’s part”:
“Yes, our weapons are present in Africa—there’s even a Kalashnikov rifle on Mozambique’s flag. Russian arms are found in many countries, but that doesn’t mean they are always used in ways that align with principles acceptable to everyone.”
