According to the official statement, the ministry said at the meeting that the use of offensive remarks against Islam and against the Prophet Muhammad by officials in India’s ruling party was unacceptable.
It was pointed out to the Indian envoy that the Islamophobic sentiments voiced by the Indian officials hurt the feelings of Muslims around the world, and that Azerbaijan condemns such actions.
The ministry also stressed that incidents like this one are detrimental to the peaceful coexistence of people of different faiths.
Azerbaijan expects the Indian government to take harsh measures against these individuals.
