Amid noticeable progress in the peace process between Baku and Yerevan, Moscow is attempting to regain its lost positions in the region. Head of Russia’s Security Council Sergey Shoigu held a meeting with Secretary of Armenia’s Security Council Armen Grigoryan, stating that “the situation in the Caucasus requires constant attention” and that it is necessary “to synchronize our watches” regarding recent developments.
“It is important for us to synchronize our watches. Everything related to recent events—various developments that have taken place in the region, both in the Caucasus as a whole and in the South Caucasus—requires our consultations,” Shoigu said.
The Armenian side, for its part, limited itself to expressing gratitude for the meeting and stated its readiness “to share details.”
