Pakistan LNG Limited (PLL) and the Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division) have announced the successful acquisition of a second LNG cargo from the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) under the terms of their government-to-government framework agreement.
The cargo is expected to be delivered in February, enhancing Pakistan and Azerbaijan’s energy cooperation even more.
The historic framework agreement between PLL and SOCAR under the government-to-government framework was signed in July 2023 on flexible terms, signalling a critical turning point in the two nations’ bilateral energy cooperation.
According to the agreement, PLL may receive one LNG cargo from SOCAR each month; PLL’s decision to accept these offers is contingent upon the level of LNG demand in Pakistan as well as commercial factors. This guarantees a steady and dependable supply of LNG to fulfil the nation’s expanding energy needs.
The first cargo under this arrangement was successfully delivered in December 2023, demonstrating PLL and SOCAR’s dedication to implementing the conditions of the framework arrangement and promoting a win-win collaboration.
The second LNG shipment strengthens the relationship between the two countries and emphasizes how crucial stable energy supplies are to Pakistan in the winter.
