According to him, there are too many mines in the territories of Azerbaijan liberated from the occupation of Armenia:
“The mines are placed very close to each other, which is difficult to explain from a military point of view. In any case, according to the rules of international law, the defeated country must clear the territories it left of mines. However, Armenia did not comply with the rules of international law.”
Chesnel said that there are highly skilled mine specialists in Azerbaijan:
“Today, Azerbaijan itself has to clear these areas from mines and is doing intensive work for this. There are enough competent specialists in Azerbaijan to handle this work and they demonstrate high professionalism.”
The president of the commission noted that foreign countries should help Azerbaijan in this matter.
“Unfortunately, people are suffering due to mines buried by Armenians in the liberated areas. Innocent civilians are killed or injured by landmines. In this work, Azerbaijan should be supported with financial assistance, as well as special necessary supplies for the treatment of disabled people. Our commission will provide assistance to Azerbaijan,” he stressed.
