The meeting, organized by TASS, was attended by representatives from more than 15 countries, including Chairman of the Board of AZERTAC Vugar Aliyev.
In response to a question about the prospects of bilateral relations between Russia and Azerbaijan, Putin noted the successful and pragmatic development of cooperation between the two countries. He emphasized the importance of collaboration in the field of education, pointing out that there are 300 schools in Azerbaijan where teaching is conducted in Russian. Putin noted that President Aliyev actively supports the study of the Russian language in the republic, which highlights the importance of Russian-Azerbaijani ties and their future prospects.
Discussing economic relations, the President of Russia noted the positive trade dynamics, which have reached 4.5-4.6 billion dollars. Putin emphasized that both countries are striving for further diversification of their cooperation.
Special attention was given to the development of the “North-South” transport corridor, which, according to Putin, could become an important international route, reducing cargo delivery times by ten days compared to the route through the Suez Canal. He noted that for the implementation of this project, many issues need to be resolved, including financing and infrastructure construction, as well as cooperation with Iranian partners.
President Putin expressed confidence in the support of the project from President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and the Iranian leadership. The project also attracts interest from foreign investors, including sovereign Arab funds.
Additionally, Putin emphasized the importance of cooperation in the Caspian region, especially regarding the ecology of the Caspian Sea, and noted that Azerbaijan is a significant partner in this area.
In conclusion, Putin stated that despite existing challenges, all parties are committed to the successful implementation of the project and expressed confidence in achieving positive results.
