Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov commented on the statement by Armenia’s Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, noting that the Constitution and legislative acts of Azerbaijan do not contain territorial claims against neighboring states, including Armenia.
In the Constitution of Armenia, legislative acts, and other documents adopted by the Armenian parliament, there are territorial claims against neighboring states, including Azerbaijan.
“This is a well-known fact, and this issue has, of course, been raised from time to time. The presence of such discussions in Armenian society indicates that the Armenian state and society themselves recognize the existence of these facts as harmful to them. In some cases, in the negotiation process, when points that are, if I may say so, unfavorable to Armenia are highlighted, attempts are made to artificially create a mirror effect, even if this has no counterparts in Azerbaijan.
The Constitution of Azerbaijan and other legislative acts do not contain territorial claims against neighboring states and Armenia. Therefore, attempts to draw parallels on this issue are unacceptable. Unfortunately, we have seen such tendencies more than once,” Bayramov noted.
