During a one-on-one meeting in Moscow on April 22, Russian President Vladimir Putin mentioned to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev that we are currently marking the 50th anniversary of the Baikal-Amur Mainline (BAM). Everyone knows that your father played a significant role in this project.
AZERTAC reports that President Putin recalled that Heydar Aliyev chaired the permanent commission on the construction of the BAM, stating, “He was essentially the leader of one of the biggest projects, very important for the entire Soviet Union. We are very grateful to him and remember him with respect.”
