This was stated by the French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Stéphane Séjourné, at a joint press conference with his Armenian counterpart, Ararat Mirzoyan, in Yerevan.
“France supports the swift signing of a treaty that will establish a just and lasting peace while respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of both countries. This is the essence of the document signed in Almaty in 1991. The same idea was presented to the public in Prague,” noted Séjourné.
“France is also facilitating the process of border delimitation between the two states based on the same principles. Paris believes that the South Caucasus should become a region of peace and cooperation,” the Foreign Minister added.
“Armenia wants peace. France and the international community want peace. Since Azerbaijan will soon host COP29, it bears the responsibility to demonstrate before the event that it genuinely seeks peace. I believe we should be able to make swift progress on this issue,” the minister said.
