Foreign assistance for humanitarian demining efforts in Azerbaijan is significantly lower compared to the level of donor community contributions to similar issues in other countries. According to Report, this was stated by Farid Shafiyev, Chairman of the Center of Analysis of International Relations (AIR Center), during a briefing at the UN headquarters organized jointly with Azerbaijan’s Permanent Mission to the UN and the AIR Center.
He noted that since the start of humanitarian demining operations in 2020, foreign aid has accounted for only 6% of the total resources allocated for demining in Azerbaijan: “This is significantly lower compared to the level of contribution typically made by the international donor community to address similar issues in other countries.”
