“The Council thanks the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for hosting COP28 in Dubai and welcomes the adoption of the UAE consensus. The EU hopes to cooperate with all partners, including the Troika – the United Arab Emirates and the future COP chairs – Azerbaijan and Brazil, to achieve successful and ambitious outcomes at COP29 and COP30,” the statement said.
The EU Council emphasized that fulfilling the global commitments agreed upon at COP28 and under the Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) is crucial for ensuring a sustainable future for all. Against this backdrop, the EU looks forward to cooperating with all partners to achieve successful and ambitious results at the upcoming UN climate conferences in Baku and Belem, as well as working on the next Convention on Biological Diversity in Colombia.
