The president’s official schedule for Wednesday lists a “closed lunch with the Chief of the General Staff of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan” at 1:00 p.m. in the Cabinet Room — without providing further details or mentioning Munir’s name.
This marks the first high-level engagement of its kind in 15 years and comes in the wake of renewed tensions between India and Pakistan, as well as Israel’s recent strike on Iran.
Notably, on May 28 of this year, Field Marshal Asim Munir visited Lachin, where he met with Azerbaijan’s Minister of Defense, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov.
