The event was attended by our compatriots living in Aberdeen and surrounding towns and the 1st Secretary of the Azerbaijani Embassy in the United Kingdom Nijat Guliyev.
After the national anthem of Azerbaijan was played, those present honored the memory of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity of our country with a minute’s silence.
Chairman of the State Committee on Work with the Diaspora Fuad Muradov congratulated our compatriots on the first anniversary of the glorious victory in the Patriotic War won under the leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev. He thanked the community members who had been raising awareness of the Azerbaijani realities among the Scottish public and for showing unity and solidarity in this work. Praising the achievements of the Azerbaijani community in Aberdeen in the integration into local society, in science, education and social issues, the chairman of the Committee made recommendations on organized activity and shared extensive information on the projects and activities of the Committee on the basis of the instructions given by President Ilham Aliyev.
Speaking at the event, Nargiz Morrison, Coordinator of the Coordination Council of British Azerbaijanis, and other community members pointed out that this was the very first meeting with members of the Azerbaijani community in Aberdeen, shared their opinions with regard to the strengthening of diaspora activities and made suggestions for the next year’s action plan.
