The ceremony of signing the cooperation agreement between the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) and bp took place at the special session “The Path to Zero Emissions: Potential and Opportunities of Green Energy in Karabakh Region” held in Shusha as part of the Baku Energy Week.
The agreement envisages exploring the potential of renewable energy sources in Azerbaijan, cooperation in this area and implementation of joint projects. It was signed by Rovshan Najaf, Acting President of SOCAR, and Gary Jones, bp Regional President for Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey.
A memorandum of understanding was also signed between SOCAR and Masdar (UAE). The document was signed by Rovshan Najaf and Fawaz Al Muharrami, Acting Executive Director of Masdar Clean Energy. The memorandum involves cooperation in the field of renewable energy sources.
The purpose of signing both documents is ensuring decarbonization of oil and gas operations, application of advanced technologies in the field of energy efficiency and joint development of renewable energy sources.
