The finalized Global Firepower ranking utilizes over 60 individual factors to determine a given nation’s PowerIndex score.
The ranking takes into account a nation’s manpower, airpower, land forces, naval forces, natural resources, transport and logistics capabilities. An important role is given to the size of the military budget, foreign debt, foreign exchange reserves, and purchasing power.
According to the ranking, 1.5% of the country’s population reaches military age every year, with the military making up 3.7% of the population, of which 0.6% are active personnel. Azerbaijan has 148 military aircrafts, 17 fighters, 11 attack aircrafts, 2 transport aircrafts, 32 training aircrafts and 86 helicopters. It is also noted that Azerbaijan has 920 tanks, 167 self-propelled artillery units, 319 towed artillery units, 323 MLRS units. Azerbaijan also has four submarines and 13 patrol vessels.
In 2022, Azerbaijan ranked 63rd.
