The four-day drills marked a significant milestone in strengthening bilateral relations between the two nations.
The exercises aimed to enhance coordination in combating illegal armed groups, improve border security, and bolster military capabilities. Both sides demonstrated exceptional readiness, coordination, and professionalism throughout the operation.
During the closing ceremony, Ali Akbar Velayati, advisor to Iran’s Supreme Leader on international affairs, emphasized the historic significance of the drills.
“These exercises symbolize the growing trust between our countries and represent an important step toward ensuring stability in the region. They reflect the brotherly ties and spirit of good neighborliness that Iran and Azerbaijan have upheld throughout their history. This is a pivotal moment, laying the foundation for peace and security in the South Caucasus,” Velayati stated.
He also highlighted that Iran was the first country to recognize Azerbaijan’s independence in 1918 and reaffirmed this recognition after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, underscoring the deep historical bonds between the two nations.
The defense ministries of both countries expressed satisfaction with the outcomes of the drills and reiterated their commitment to continued military cooperation.
