The first train carrying Kazakh wheat has arrived in Armenia. The 15-car train, transporting about 1,000 tons of wheat, successfully completed its journey along a new route passing through Kazakhstan, Russia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia. According to Kazakhstan’s Food Corporation, this transit corridor could potentially become a permanent channel for delivering Kazakh grain and other cargoes to Yerevan.
The national grain operator is currently in talks with new Armenian partners interested in establishing stable supplies of Kazakh wheat. In the future, the volume of grain shipments to Armenia is expected to increase.
According to Tobylbek Omarov, Managing Director of JSC National Company “Food Corporation,” the company is ready to supply Armenian consumers with around 15,000–20,000 tons of food-grade grain per month.
In October, Kazakhstan’s national grain operator signed a long-term cooperation agreement providing for the supply of grain to Armenian buyers. The pilot batch consists of fourth-class food wheat, suitable for both general-purpose flour production and animal feed.
In 2025, the Food Corporation has been actively exporting Kazakh wheat abroad — to countries of Central Asia, the South Caucasus (Azerbaijan, Georgia), the Middle East (Iran), North Africa (Algeria, Morocco), Southeast Asia (Vietnam), and China.
