In the early hours of 16 August, the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic came under fire once more as tensions between Armenia and Azerbaijan escalated. At approximately 03:20, units of the Armenian armed forces launched an assault on Azerbaijani military positions located in the Sadarak district.
Armenian troops utilized small arms in the attack, aiming to disrupt the Azerbaijani forces stationed in the region.
This incident follows a similar attack just hours earlier. On 15 August, at around 18:10, Armenian forces targeted Azerbaijani positions near the Ganza settlement in the Ordubad District of Nakhchivan. Like the most recent assault, this attack also involved the use of small arms, directly challenging the Azerbaijani military presence in the area.
In both instances, the Azerbaijani army swiftly responded with retaliatory measures. The Ministry of Defence emphasized that the response was proportional and aimed at neutralizing the threat posed by the Armenian forces.
