The American political machine, having traversed the globe, has overstrained itself, leaving numerous flaws and blunders in its wake. Now it’s the turn of the French self-propelled mechanism. It lacks the resources to cover the distances. If it continues to be managed “Macron-style,” without fully understanding its capabilities, it may simply fall apart.
Official Paris has so lost its way in the programs it implements that it has become entangled in its own goals and objectives, forgetting categories such as dignity, self-control, and honor. This is one of those cases where a player, combining foolishness with malice, is guaranteed to fail. And from the outside, it looks pitiful.
Macron has lost so much rationality that he is turning the International Organization of La Francophonie into a platform for demagoguery and banal bargaining. At the summit held in Villers-Cotterêts and Paris, biased and provocative imperatives were voiced against Azerbaijan, a country that produces security, clearly demonstrates a commitment to reasonable integration, and provides no reason for accusations of destructive behavior.
As an intergovernmental organization, Francophonie was conceived as an international humanitarian platform to assist states and governments in implementing their programs. Along with promoting the French language in the context of cultural diversity, this organization, according to its statutory obligations, was supposed to contribute to the strengthening of peace, democracy, and the realization of human rights.
It was meant to take into account the realities of the world and focus on using the potential of soft power. It was in this context that the founders initially targeted issues of education, scientific exchange, higher education, and multidisciplinary research. Economic cooperation was even identified as a key area of interaction, so that member states could rely on the availability of sustainable development.
It was no coincidence that there was also a focus on involving youth and women in all activities, to give the Francophonie organization a more respectable image.
Contrary to the noble intentions of the founding fathers, Macron is now rudely and brazenly changing the profile of the organization, turning it into a hostage of dirty politics. It’s not the first time the French president has pushed through documents full of lies and provocations against sovereign Azerbaijan.
By disregarding the organization’s core values and overstepping the boundaries of its established mandate, Paris is striking at the reputation of the very ideology of Francophonie, proving that it is using it as a tool to pressure its opponents. The organization has become a political instrument through which France interferes in the internal affairs of other countries. This is typical of Macron’s current France, which is drifting aimlessly, not knowing which direction to take.
A sharp irritant for the head of this state was the decision to hold the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) in Baku, the capital of a country that official Paris has classified as a sworn enemy, for reasons known only to the leader of this country. The master of the Élysée Palace has become so entangled with Armenia, which he pampers and nurtures in every way, that he has forgotten the priorities of his own country.
In an attempt to please Yerevan, Macron is not so much helping the “long-suffering” as he is trying to harm Azerbaijan, thus rendering questionable services to his partner. Azerbaijan’s reputation remains strong, and the country’s international rankings continue to rise because Baku is focused on rationality in all matters, especially in international integration. This has become a real problem not only for Armenia but also for its patron, who is eager to use the Southern Caucasus underdog as its outpost.
Before our eyes, France, unashamed of its immorality and cynicism, is using the misfortune of a suffering country for its own purposes, turning Armenia into a colonial state with the status of a “younger sister.”
Defying norms of morality and decency, Paris is pushing the Southern Caucasus into the embrace of a new war. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has repeatedly spoken of his readiness to sign a peace agreement with Azerbaijan, recognizing the territorial integrity of his neighbor. However, the “elder sister” is acting in the opposite direction, seeking to escalate the situation and prevent Azerbaijan from successfully hosting COP29. Thus, the “sisters” have conspired on a destructive basis to take revenge on Azerbaijan.
The hypocrisy of the French leader has reached its peak, and he is openly pressuring the leaders of sovereign states to boycott the climate summit in Baku in November. President Macron specifically sent a demand to the head of Nigeria to boycott the summit.
However, President Bola Tinubu stated that he would attend the event, ignoring Macron’s threats.
This suggests that such appeals and demands were sent to other world leaders as well. France is using the Francophonie organization in its dirty game. As for Armenia’s participation, its leadership initially stated that it intended to take part in COP29. However, after Pashinyan’s visit to Paris, Yerevan’s position changed. This was confirmed in a statement by Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry, which emphasized that Armenia’s Foreign Ministry had issued a meaningless statement claiming that Azerbaijan would use COP29 as a cover for a subsequent attack on Armenia.
This disgraceful political concoction is a product of French “cuisine,” and it reeks of moldy rot. Using this, the “sisters” are trying to deter other countries from attending COP29. All of this would be insignificant if not for one important factor: Armenia, under the influence of Paris, is torpedoing the peace process to lay the groundwork for its revanchist plans. And in such dangerous intentions, it acts under the dictation of Paris, which is also losing its reputation, turning into a marginal player on the world stage. It is not difficult to guess where the union of two outsiders, driven by plans for revenge and global chaos, might lead.
The goals and intentions of Pashinyan’s recent visit to France have become clear. Azerbaijan is being attacked in an increasingly aggressive and harsh manner. However, Baku is determined in all matters related to the realization of its plans. What is unclear is how far Paris and Yerevan will go in carrying out their nefarious intentions.
France literally dragged Armenia into the International Organization of La Francophonie, forcing it to participate in all summits, fully understanding that it is an alien body there. What does Armenia have to do with this institution? Perhaps even the Armenians themselves have no answer to this question. But why France needs it is clear without any hints.
Macron is molding Armenia into a new colony, using its already modest resources in his dirty plans. Attacks on Azerbaijan are part of this. But to make full use of its satellite, he must offer it something in return.
Most likely, Pashinyan is waiting for political support from Macron to maintain power. In the face of the upcoming autumn turmoil in domestic politics, with the opposition already preparing to storm Pashinyan’s bastions, support from the Élysée Palace would not go amiss. Meanwhile, their alliance against Azerbaijan remains in full swing.
Finally, the birth of a hybrid democracy on the soil of the fusion of French and Armenian “values” will be a big gift to the international community, though few in the world will watch with awe as a “hedgehog and a snake” are crossed in a Franco-Armenian way. Be that as it may, there is no point in interfering with the “sisters” in their foolish antics. After all, they are entirely free in their foul-smelling morals.
