President Aliyev shared his concerns on his X account.
“Today, after bidding a friendly farewell to the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi, we were profoundly troubled by the news of a helicopter carrying the top delegation crash-landing in Iran. Our prayers to Allah Almighty are with President Ebrahim Raisi and the accompanying delegation. As a neighbor, friend, and brotherly country, the Republic of Azerbaijan stands ready to offer any assistance needed,” President Aliyev wrote.
According to reports, the incident occurred shortly after President Aliyev bid farewell to President Raisi following a ceremonial event marking the inauguration of the Khudafarin hydroelectric complex and the opening of the Qiz Qalasi hydroelectric complex on the Araz River at the Azerbaijan-Iran border.
Details regarding the cause of the incident are currently unknown, and Iranian authorities have launched an investigation.
