During the official welcoming ceremony at the Ministry of Defense, J. Stoltenberg passed by the honor guard and signed the “Book of Honor” in accordance with the protocol.
The Minister thanked NATO for supporting Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity during the 30 years of occupation and in the current period.
The delegation was presented with detailed information about the reforms being carried out in the Azerbaijani Army, as well as about the demining, restoration, and construction works on the liberated territories, and the current situation at the conditional border between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
The Minister of Defense spoke about the achievements gained in cooperation with NATO and emphasized the importance of further development of the relationships.
Expressing gratitude for the hospitality shown, J. Stoltenberg highly appreciated the professionalism of the servicemen of the Azerbaijani Army in peacekeeping missions and their activities in other areas within the partnership with NATO. He particularly noted that the close cooperation of the Azerbaijani army with the Turkish Armed Forces would significantly contribute to Azerbaijan’s relations with NATO.
In conclusion, the prospects for development in the areas of cybersecurity, demining, as well as other aspects of bilateral military relations were discussed, and a wide exchange of views on a range of issues concerning regional security and mutual interest was conducted.
